New Video! Free Tools for Content Creators
What’s good newsletter crew? I’m back in just over two weeks with another video! This one is super practical for all my fellow creatives. It’s a humble 6 minutes, so take a few to check out these free tools I’m using every week to get shit done.
In Defense of Bangkok
Alrighty. I’ve been in Thailand for about 8 days now, 7 of those in Bangkok. I cannot believe how many people told me to skip it. It feels like every backpacker I come across can’t stand to spend more than 2 days there. I can’t wrap my head around why.
Some people have said that they can get cities anywhere, and Bangkok is just another city. I disagree with both of those points. I think Bangkok has incredible, unique energy. There’s an abundance of people going about their lives, doing interesting things, and there’s real stuff going on! Soccer matches, muay thai, nightlife, and that’s just the stuff I saw in a week as a tourist. Not to mention smaller things like people skating or running or doing tai chi in the park. It just feels alive. And it’s huge.
The food culture is some of my favorite I’ve encountered. Quiet fronts open up at night and become vibrant hot spots for food. Real, actual food for just a few dollars. Cafe culture is thriving. Theres so many diffferent versions of coffee or tea or chocolates or milks. And they don’t blindly subscribe to milk or sugar “ruining” drinks. They seem to be constantly experimenting.
And this is just the stuff that I like to do! Of course I saw the temples and Grand Palace and other cultural landmarks (reclining Buddha was dope). I feel like I could spent months, or even years walking around Bangkok, especially if I was taking photos. But I’ll wrap up that rant here, I’m sure I’ll talk about it in a video in the near future.
Almost 2 Months Abroad!
I’m coming up on a two full months out of the county and it’s kind of hard to believe. Feels like it’s been longer, but also shorter too? Definitely fun, but dear god I have no desire to be a digital nomad. I love being out and exploring different pockets of the world, but I also love having a desk and bed to return to.
Well, maybe I could be if I could afford to check luggage, fly nicer planes and stay in nicer long term rentals. But that’s not in the cards. Either way, I’m struggling with being away from friends and family. It’s hard to keep going, keep meeting new people, keep making new connections, especially as an introvert. I’m the kind of person who really looks for consistent, long-term friendships. Not having those around me is foreign.
But it’s an experiment, right? See new stuff and put myself in new situations, see how I change. And it’s good. I like to think that I’m growing at least a little bit on this trip. If nothing else, I’m getting better at taking photos.
Music Rex
Still not that much time for music but of course I’ll keep y’all tapped in to what I dug up.
my crush - muque
Vacation - Hippo Campus
Deeper Well - Kacey Musgraves
Been on a little bit of a j-pop kick and my crush is a slapper. Hippo Campus been legit. Saw them in NYC last summer and that concert rocked. And the new Kacey Musgraves album is just okay imo but that’s still my goat.
Anyways, thanks for reading my writing. I appreciate it and stay tuned for the next video becuase the photos to come are some of my best ever. Peace.
